Infographic: What is Phishing?

Phishing is the most common start to a ransomware attack.

With cybercrime on the rise, hackers are taking advantage of victims by gaining access to their personal information. Be aware of phishing signs to avoid leaking sensitive information.

There are 5 different types of phishing attacks to avoid:

1. Mass Campaigns: wide-net phishing emails that are sent to the masses from a knock-off corporate entity asking for credentials or credit card numbers.

2. Spear Phishing: targets a specific organization or person with tailored phishing emails.

3. Whaling: spear-phishing attacks directed specifically at senior executives and other high-profile targets to gain access to company platforms or financial information.

4. Clone Phishing: attacker copies a legitimate email message sent from a trusted organization and replaces a link that redirects to a malicious website

5. Pretexting: this involves an attacker doing something via a non-email channel to set an expectation that they’ll be sending something seemingly legitimate shortly only to send an email that contains malicious links.
