Marketing Your MSP Business
It can be difficult to move from break-fix to a managed service model, and one of the hardest aspects is demonstrating that your business is a cut above the rest. Marketing is one of the most effective ways to communicate the value of the services you offer, but it’s also a huge pain point for every MSP across the globe. Let’s dive into what you are going to need in order to take your products and services to market.
The first step in kicking off your marketing initiatives should be website creation. Your website will serve as the first impression for every potential client. IT services, and your website, will pop up earlier in search results. A well-designed website and an SEO strategy will lead to conversions - aka new closed deals and/or new clients.
Once your website and SEO strategy is up and running, the next step is to get your message out to your target audience via marketing promotions. Which can include everything from direct mailers, to emails, to targeted social media posts. Utilising social media, for example, can bring tons of organic traffic to your website. How? When you link your website in social posts it will result in your website being crawled and improve your overall search rankings. If you don’t have in-house marketers, you should consider partnering with a vendor who offers a marketing platform, free to MSPs. Ideally, this platform will be filled with customisable content to help you get your brand in front of prospects and clients at the push of a button.
Marketing Development Funds
Vendors may also offer marketing development funds, or MDF, to aid MSPs in their marketing efforts. MDF can be used to support larger marketing campaigns or events to acquire net new customers. A strong MDF program should support everything from funding, to co-branded event materials and guest speakers.
Using just a few of these techniques will be effective enough for you to start generating new business. The goal of your marketing strategy should be to present the value of your MSP to your target clients. You’ll want to showcase you, the MSP, as an IT thought leader, which will result in more engagement and leads to add to the pipeline. Marketing is a growth engine built from a variety of different materials which all play an extremely important role in encompassing your company brand.
