An Intern's Third Year at Datto

By: Katie Martel

Hey there! My name is Katie, and I’m currently partaking in my third internship at Datto. That’s right, my 3rd summer! The past two have flown by and this one is quickly gaining speed. It’s been an incredible learning experience for me, and I’m excited to tell you more about it!

I was fortunate enough to land an internship here the summer after my freshman year, unsure of what to expect. In fact, I was expecting your run-of-the-mill, coffee-grabbing, paper-printing, internship. Little did I know that my internship would consist of the opposite. Within my first couple of weeks, I was working alongside my co-workers and treated as such. There was never a ‘lesser’ treatment given to me, even though I was technically ‘the intern.' I was given real tasks that yielded real results. I collaborated with marketing team members and was also given the opportunity to work with members of other teams as well which enhanced my experience and expanded my network.

Each summer, the work has progressively more challenging and thus more rewarding. Each internship has had its own set of challenges and presented more opportunities for significant professional growth. However, these lessons and experiences would not be possible without my team. Datto’s entire marketing department is so talented, and I’m very fortunate to say they’ve all had a hand in my professional development since day one.

Though I’ve technically been working at the same company for three summers, Datto’s growth has made it seem like I’ve worked at three different places. Datto has accomplished so much just within the last three years, and it’s been nothing short of a privilege to take part in it.

In conclusion, interning at Datto has been one of the greatest opportunities I have, and I am grateful for all that it has taught me both personally and professionally. Each summer only leads to a greater learning experience, and I am looking forward to seeing what this year’s has up its sleeve.
