NORWALK, CT (January 2, 2014) – Datto, the global leader and award-winning provider of hybrid cloud-based backup, disaster recovery (BDR) and intelligent business continuity solutions, proudly wraps a banner 2013.

The year brought success both for Datto Partners and the Company. “Our success and rapid growth is directly connected to the accomplishments our Channel Partners have in the field,” said Datto founder and CEO Austin McChord. “Because Datto is channel-only, our efforts are 100% focused on enabling the success of the MSPs and VARs we work with, allowing them to expand their businesses.”

Hilltop Consultants, an Elite Datto Partner based in Washington, DC, is just one of Datto’s many success stories. “There [are] numerous benefits with Datto. Our decision to partner with Datto was based on their implementation of the solutions, making it easier to manage day-to-day for the Hilltop team and client base,” stated Jim Turner, President of Hilltop Consultants.

In addition to the core solutions, it’s how Datto provides end-to-end support for their Partners. Following his attendance at the first annual Datto Partner Conference held in September, and a presentation by Datto VP of Support, Victor Mathieu, Turner was inspired to create an in-house support team to ensure better quality control and service to Hilltop’s clients. The result? While Turner can’t attribute all of Hilltop’s approximate 25% increase in gross revenue and 50-60% in net-profit to Datto, he quickly adds, “I’m not about to drop Datto, and find out.”

The year also saw the introduction of Datto ALTO, a game-changer for both MSPs and their client-base. For the first time, small to medium-sized businesses had the opportunity to implement enterprise-level BDR, at a SMB price point. For MSPs, it opened the door to the small business market. As Datto Partner Patrick Murphy with Results Technology says, “It allows us to make margins in small business!”

Since launching in April, ALTO has quickly grown to 25% of Datto BDR device sales. Datto greatly expanded its footprint and its workforce in 2013. The Company opened fully staffed offices, and corresponding data centers, in Toronto and London, as well as its own hardware manufacturing facility in Monroe, CT. Datto headcount grew by 136 employees, spread across all offices. The majority of hires were in Technical Support, which represents over 25% of the Company’s headcount.

On the executive level, Datto added experience to key leadership positions and welcomed industry and business talents headlined by the hire of technology innovator Tom Hughes as VP of Research and Development, 20-year Channel-veteran Rob Rae as VP of Business Development, and financial expert Michelle McComb as Chief Financial Officer.

Datto was also fortunate to bring on two Board of Directors when it announced its $25 million in growth funding from technology investment house General Catalyst Partners; Paul Sagan, Executive Vice Chairman of Akamai Technologies and Steve Herrod, former Chief Technology Officer of VMware and Managing Director at General Catalyst.

The accelerated and steady rise of Datto earned industry-wide recognition, winning countless awards on the local and national levels. For the second consecutive year, Datto was named to the Inc. 500 as one of America’s fastest growing companies. Other awards in 2013 include; winner of the Marcum Tech Top 40 for overall revenue growth, Emerging Vendor and Top Innovator awards by CRN, Cloud Storage Excellence award by TMC’s Cloud Computing, Storage SMB All-Star by ChannelPro, and all the ASCII Awards – Best of Show, Best New Product, Best Cloud Solution, and Best Customer Support.

The young company celebrated a strong year of 100% annual growth while boasting an estimated $50 million revenue mark in 2013. “This year, we focused on expanding opportunities for our Partners and that’s exactly what we’ve done. We’ve been able to offer something new and unique that truly benefits our Partners,” said McChord. “We are only getting started, and 2014 is going to be the biggest year yet. In addition to continued international expansion, Datto’s engineering teams have been working hard on some major product announcements that are sure to truly delight our Partners and the channel. I can’t wait to share more in the coming months.”
