Datto SaaS Protection is looking for a Software Developer with experience working across stakeholder teams, has strong communication skills, and has a passion for problem-solving and customer satisfaction. You’ll be primarily focused on resolving high priority production issues and helping to make the service more robust and resilient. Primary responsibilities include: 

  • Actively analyzing system performance and guiding the team to develop technical strategies to tackle top pain points driving support issues.
  • Implementing root cause fixes for top problems driving issues to Technical Support.
  • Communicating with stakeholders to keep customers informed of updates. 
  • Taking proactive action to resolve customer issues. Develop unit and functional automation tests to prevent future occurrences.
  • Mentoring junior team members and new hires on best practices and standards
  • Collaborating with fellow engineering team members to maintain architectural knowledge of new features and changes to the platform.
  • Being a champion of Datto’s core values. Promote positive communication, collaboration, and team growth. 
  • Being a positive role model that others want to follow and be inspired by.
  • Being an agent of change. Identify gaps in processes and tasks. An advocate of new ideas to drive continuous improvement. 


Skills You’ll Need


  • B.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience programming in an object-oriented language such as Java
  • Agile development experience or willingness to learn
  • Strong computer science fundamentals: data structures and algorithms
  • Experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL)
  • Experience with API development; RESTful, JSON-RPC, SOAP
  • Experience with front-end development ecosystem (e.g. HTML, CSS, and JavaScript)
  • Experience developing in a Linux environment
  • Experience with version control software (e.g., Git, Subversion, etc.)
  • Comfortable communicating with a wide of stakeholders to understand and execute on technology roadmaps
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams completing root cause analysis, debugging code, and bug fixes
  • Independent, driven, creative, and likes to take ownership
