The BCDR Cloud Team enhances and maintains the software powering offsite data storage, disaster recovery and business continuity operations that is distributed across more than 3500 storage and compute servers protecting over 500 PB of data around the world -- we refer to it as the Datto Cloud. The Datto Cloud is responsible for hosting backup data replicated from over 80,000 backup appliances that are deployed across all 7 continents. In addition to hosting this replicated data, the cloud provides business continuity and disaster recovery services such as: VM image exports, file exports, virtualization, ransomware protection, and full business continuity via virtual networks, virtual machines and secure VPN connectivity. 

You will report to the Manager of Quality Assurance.

A Look Inside the Job:  

  • Participate as a quality ambassador, engineer and eyes of the customer as a member of an agile software development team
  • Identify test strategies that transition into detailed test specifications for existing and new features
  • Create and drive the automation vision for enabling a reduction in regression test cycle time with a high degree of confidence in the quality of releases
  • Lead the development of automated tests as part of the software development lifecycle 
  • Ability to maintain a dynamic, complex, and ever-changing test environment
  • Coordinating efficiencies with DevOps to drive release management

About You:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or Software Engineering; or equivalent work experience
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in software quality assurance with the ability to read and understand code, and verify acceptance criteria
  • Proficiency in Python automation (or similar object oriented languages)
  • Experience working in an agile environment
  • Experience testing APIs and implementing API automated testing
  • Experience with backend performance, stress and recovery testing
  • Root cause analysis, results analysis and performance analysis 
  • Proficient with Linux, networking, file systems, and virtualization
  • Deep understanding of quality assurance methodologies and concepts
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Able to find opportunities for improvement and tackle them without external direction
  • Familiarity with object-oriented programming concepts

Bonus Points:

  • Programming experience with PHP
  • Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMWare, KVM and containers
  • Knowledge of networking concepts (e.g., TCP/IP, Multicast, Unicast, VLAN, OSI, etc.)
  • Knowledge of infrastructure (e.g., firewalls, iptables, ipsec, hypervisor, storage, monitoring, security, etc.) and have experience working with a cloud solution
