Datto is seeking an experienced Technical Lead to oversee the organization's current Store platform (Netsuite SuiteCommerce Advanced), manage our software engineering team and help drive future eCommerce north star strategy.  As a member of the IT Quote to Order scrum team, this role will help bring cohesion across IT applications and improve both the speed and quality of delivery.  We are looking for someone with a proven track record of leading delivery teams.

You will report to the Senior Director of Enterprise Systems - ERP 

Primary Responsibilities

Execute on strategic initiatives laid out by senior management

Oversee the health of our software engineering team ensuring that code increments add value and align to the strategic roadmap within Enterprise systems, while protecting the technical health of the product

Conduct one-on-ones and performance reviews, and assist with career pathing and goal setting

Oversee the day-to-day operations of software engineering teams

Establish/Ensure sound software operational practices (configuration management, code reviews, unit testing, architectural review, root-cause analysis/correction)

In partnership with the Scrum Master and Director of Enterprise Architecture/Quality, report on the status of the software development team, operations, and system performance to senior management

Actively identify gaps with process, resources, or technical solutions, develop actions to address gaps, and collaborate with stakeholders to address and escalate as needed.

Serve as a lead member on the project delivery team, across multiple projects with the ability to collaborate across business stakeholders, functional and technical teams

Collaborate with internal team members and external clients to ensure best practice, product and capabilities are leveraged to provide beneficial client solutions

Ability to create and maintain project documents, including delivery plans, solution approaches, functional and technical requirements and specifications and ability to present them to clients

Proactively monitor and manage delivery of projects and programs, removing barriers to delivery and ensuring high quality outcomes.

Desired Skills and Experience

Prior eCommerce experience a MUST

5+ years in a management role, responsible for 5 or more engineers in an Agile environment

Netsuite SuiteCommerce Advanced (Nice to have)

BS in a technical field such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Mathematics or equivalent experience

Work experience as a software engineer including experience with object oriented design, development frameworks, and/or web services

Technical languages - Javascript (MUST), React.js, CSS, Node.js, Python, PHP (nice to have)

Agile Processes, Code Branching Strategies, CI/CD pipeline


Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a track record of communicating well with executives and non-technical leaders

Strong analytical skills with excellent problem solving abilities

Broad knowledge of IT and systems architecture, which involves understanding the interrelationships of software development, systems engineering, project management, data management, network management, architecture, computer operations
