Does This Describe You:

  • Sr. Manager for Solutions Engineering will lead an elite Solutions Engineering (Pre-sales) team responsible for continuing success of Datto, and will work closely with the sales organization to establish sales approaches, present technical presentations to prospects, customers, and company associates. Sr. Manager will gather requirements and customer feedback, in order to ensure Datto’s success against assigned targets annually.
  • Deep technical skills, excellent writing and oral presentation skills and a demonstrated ability to successfully work as a trusted advisor to ensure the success of Datto’s current and future customers. 
  • Management duties include collaborating in strategic direction and performance, tracking goals and attainment, and ensuring technical capabilities are refined across the SE team. 
  • This person must have a strong ability to work through the entire sales process leveraging technical expertise, relationship building, and ability to gain the trust of business and technical users. 

A Look Inside the Job:

  • Lead and drive all activities for the respective Solutions Engineering team.
  • Partner closely with sales management to meet the company’s business objectives and ensure the successful sale and deployment of company solutions across all Partners.
  • ·Recruit, develop, improve, and maintain the Sales Engineering organization and processes to successfully meet and exceed the company’s sales goals.
  • Plan and manage the team resources, ensuring they are efficiently deployed to support a broad range of customer and partner needs.
  • Understand and collaborate on technical issues and/or enhancement requests from Partners back to product management.
  • Perform strategic win/loss analysis to optimize sales execution and drive product improvements.
  • Provide reporting on sales activities, customer initiatives, and product requirements.
  • Work with stakeholders to align the SE team with Datto’s strategic vision.
  • Apply sales skills along with technical knowledge to support SEs in closing sales.
  • Ensure SE team is enabled to support all Datto products and solutions along with required sales/soft skills.
  • Provide technical leadership and knowledge to the sales organization.
  • Proactively engage with Sales Leadership to create close alignment and develop technical tools/programs to support sales campaigns and initiatives
  • Travel up to 20-30% (Due to Covid-19 travel is restricted)

About You:

  • BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent practical experience. Advanced Degree preferred
  • 4+ years of experience managing or leading a successful pre-sales SE organization, including leading managers. 
  • 4+ years of pre-sales experience is required.
  • Work in a hyper-growth environment with an appreciation of how growth affects the business dynamics, corporate culture  and in-place processes and systems
  • Lead in a matrix model supporting sales, product teams, support organizations, professional services and enterprise partner teams.
  • Strong partner/customer relationship and people skills as well as excellent written communications and presentation skills
  • Results oriented manager with demonstrable achievement of success
  • Relentless desire to delight partners 
  • Ability to influence technical decision makers and executives through technical presentations and business case creation

Bonus Points:

  • 8+ years of experience in technical sales and product sales
  • Proven Leadership skill with 4+ years managerial experience
  • Familiarity with Managed Service Provider industry is strongly preferred
  • Experience in Public Cloud Solutions (AWS, Azure, OCI, GCP) is preferred
  • Experience with Enterprise Platforms and Scale
  • Experience with financial modeling and benchmarking principles
