The Communications Manager will play a key role in the external communications of the company, with media relations coordination being the primary responsibility. The Communications Manager will ensure consistency in corporate messaging to all stakeholders including the media, customers and employees. This role will be in charge of helping to execute earned media plans for the company’s products and services and company news. The Communications Manager reports to the Director, Communications within the Marketing organization.

 

A Look Inside the Job:

  • Day-to-day contact with Datto’s global PR agencies, working closely on media opportunity identification, proactive story creation, and breaking news opportunities.
  • Work with internal spokespeople to coordinate interviews under the strategic direction of the Director, Communications.
  • Draft press releases and coordinate approvals and distribution.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to craft bylined articles, with the guidance of Director, Communications.
  • Media monitoring, measurement and reporting.
  • This position will also run the international company awards program for Datto, bringing together internal stakeholders and coordinating efforts with our global PR agencies.
  • Assist in coordination of the Analyst Relations program.
  • Primary contact with internal and external social media and digital teams, ensuring proper amplification of news.
  • Manage Datto’s corporate web presence via Datto Newsroom; coordinate with manager of Datto blog Identify and work with Datto partners for press opportunities.
  • Assist in coordinating media and company events and helping to run standalone PR events.

About You:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or related field.
  • Seven plus years of experience in communications, public relations, or related field, preferably some of it working within a corporate environment.
  • Experience with technologies and best practices for messaging in different channels, internally and externally.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong copywriting and content creation skills.
  • Excellent project manager; ability to multitask and monitor several projects and accounts on a daily basis.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to take initiative to develop new strategies and creative story ideas.
  • Excellent media relations skills.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Experience with global media or PR agencies a plus.
