Ransomware News: Thousands of Patient Records Compromised After Attack
The personal information of 80,000 Canadians may be at risk after a recent data breach. Detailed medical history and contact information was at risk after a run in with ransomware. The compromised information includes addresses, birth dates, detailed medical histories, and more.
The cyber criminals behind the attack have have requested a ransom payment to prevent them from releasing the sensitive information online.
A recent law requires Canadian companies to disclose as much information as possible to protect consumers. The Digital Privacy Act will go into effect in November, and aims to protect Canadian consumers.
