Illinois to Require Cybersecurity Training for Employees

By Chris Brunau

Cybersecurity training is now mandatory for all state employees in Illinois. This marks the 15th state to require cybersecurity training, although many other states have some form of training programs in place.

According to reports, the law will save the state millions in data breach prevention and it is deemed critical to preserve the state’s systems and safeguard personal data.

This new effort for cybersecurity training comes at a good time. Recent ransomware attacks such as WannaCry and NotPetya plagued industries across the globe, so educating users should be a priority. As we found in Datto’s 2016 State of the Channel Ransomware Report, a lack of cybersecurity training is one of the leading causes of a ransomware infection.

In our Cybersecurity Made MSPeasy Toolkit, we have a great collection of four eBooks to teach you everything you need to know about cybersecurity and ransomware. This kit contains templates, tips, and best practices from leading MSPs who have the cybersecurity experience you’re looking for. Download it and get prepared today!
