DattoCon San Diego: What I'm Most Excited for
With DattoCon only a few days away, a lot of people are asking what I am looking forward to most...
I can’t wait to catch up with David Pence, CEO of Acumen IT, out of Greenville, SC. That’s what I’m most looking forward to.
Next week will be my sixth DattoCon. My first being Las Vegas back in 2014 when I was a Datto Partner, working for River Run Computers, a large MSP out of Milwaukee, WI. Now a seasoned vet on Rob Rae’s Business Development Team, I have attended and presented at DattoCon New Orleans, Nashville, Denver, Austin, Barcelona and the next week’s highly anticipated, San Diego. No doubt, this list will grow with DattoCon Paris later this year, and every single one after that.
It was back in Vegas when I first met David. We instantly bonded and that’s exactly what I went to DattoCon for. I wanted to walk away from the experience with newfound friendships and more importantly, somebody to bounce MSP ideas off of. To me, that IS the DattoCon experience. It’s one thing to go and seek out new technologies and meet new vendors, but it’s an entirely different thing to post up somewhere and just talk about business. Talk about all the good things we’ve accomplished that year and even more importantly, all the lessons we have learned. David is that person for me. The handful of times I see him every year since Vegas, it is the exact same welcoming conversations, and I expect nothing less.
The thing is this, it’s not just David, it’s the entire Datto family...which will literally be over two thousand strong. It’s Paul Franks from ThinkGard/Planit DR in Alabama, Joe Wright, Jr. from Central PA Technologies, Patrick Murphy from Results Technologies out of Springfield, MO, Jon Paior from Geek, coming all the way from Adelaide, Australia. I could go on and on and on.
There’s just something so different about DattoCon. It’s packed with peer-driven content, valuable for either those that are technical minded or sales oriented. Lively, exciting and fresh, with never a dull moment. As one of the traveling Datto evangelists, I get to see all kinds of tradeshows, events, and gatherings. I can confidently say that next week will be the single greatest industry week of the year. Sure I’m drinking the kool-aid since I’m an employee, but I’ve been drinking this stuff since long before then.
So David, Paul, Joe, Patrick, Jon and to all the other Datto friends and family, I’m really looking forward to seeing you and catching up in just a few short days. The countdown is on!
