Datto Partner, TaylorWorks, Gets Law Firm Back Up and Running After $2M Ransom Demand

TaylorWorks, a Florida-based managed service provider (MSP), saw an uptick in ransomware attacks targeting their clients over the last few years. This highlighted the need for stronger security measures as well as a business continuity and disaster recovery plan and solution. That’s why TaylorWorks adopted Datto SIRIS to protect their clients when disaster strikes.

One of their clients suffered a ransomware attack with a $2,000,000 ransom demand. TaylorWorks was able to help their client avoid paying the ransom (and costly downtime) with Datto.

Owner, Tim Taylor says, “It’s too big of a risk for an MSP to not have Datto. It comes down to having the ability to back up quickly.” When the downtime and loss of productivity can be more than the cost of a ransom, it’s important to be able to quickly restore clients' data to avoid this scenario.

According to Taylor, the level of sophistication and complexity of attacks is also on the rise. And, today’s threat actors are more focused on specifically targeting companies as compared to random individuals and they are finding ways to bypass preventative measures. “No MSP can afford to be without Datto. It’s on us to protect clients, and the best way for us to do that is by educating them on the value of having a solution like Datto Continuity.”
