Datto Launches Datto Networking
We are happy to announce that Open Mesh, an innovator in the cloud-based networking market, is now a Datto Company. The company delivers cost-effective network access points and switches to IT service providers along with the market leading CloudTrax management portal. The acquisition advances Datto’s goal of providing the most comprehensive set of data protection and business continuity solutions to IT managed service providers (MSPs) worldwide.
Open Mesh’s technology and its commitment to the channel makes the company a great match as Datto expands our offerings into data availability and network connectivity. “Network continuity is vital for businesses, but the complexity of network management has been a pain point for managed service providers.” said Datto CEO Austin McChord. “MSPs need more than a cobbled together solution. They need a fully integrated, cloud-managed platform.”
Open Mesh networking technologies join the Datto Networking Appliance to create the Datto Networking product line. Fully managed in the cloud, Datto Networking offers MSPs network continuity, scalability, and redundancy with always-connected Wi-Fi and fully integrated 4G LTE failover. It also delivers essential security features such as a built in firewall and unified threat management.
The Datto Networking product line includes:
The Datto Networking Appliance – The existing Datto Networking Appliance includes six I/O ports, a network edge router, firewall, Wi-Fi, intrusion detection and prevention, and fully integrated 4G LTE failover.
Datto Networking Switches – Network switches, created by Open Mesh, include robust Layer 2 management features and are designed to automatically connect devices and users on the network. Switches are PoE+ enabled and are available in 8, 24 or 48 port options.
Datto Networking WiFi – Mesh enabled WiFi access points, created by Open Mesh, deliver powerful 802.11ac wireless networks with seamless roaming for always connected WiFi. Smart access points work together to form a self-organizing, self-healing, and encrypted mesh network.
Jeremy Koellish of TekTegrity, a San Luis Obispo, CA based Datto Partner, said the company has been installing Open Mesh products in smaller networks for at least the past three years. He said they chose Open Mesh on price and remote management capability. “Cloud management is essential for MSPs, and CloudTrax is straightforward and easy to use,” he said. “I’m looking forward to see how Datto and Open Mesh continue to develop the product line, particularly for high-density WiFi networks,” he said.
The Datto Networking product line is currently available in the US. Datto Networking Switches and Datto Networking WiFi are available in Canada and APAC with the Datto Networking Appliance available later in 2017. The entire Datto Networking Suite will be available in EMEA toward the end of 2017.
Open Mesh will join Datto as a subsidiary company and will maintain its Portland, Oregon headquarters and worldwide distribution networks. For more information, read the full press release.
