2015: Datto's Year In Review

By Chris Brunau

To say 2015 was a big year for Datto would be putting it lightly. Between company growth, expansion to Australia, a Series B investment round and the release of new technology, Datto is better than ever. Here’s a look back at a few things that made this such an incredible year for Datto’s employees and partners.

-2015 started off with the onboarding of Backupify to the Datto family. Datto’s already impressive product offerings got even better with cloud-to-cloud backup protection from Backupify, further protecting business data no matter where it lives.

-In January, CEO Austin McChord was named to the Forbes 30
Under 30 List, which honors the best and brightest leaders under 30 years old.

-DattoCon, Datto’s partner conference, which took place in June was more successful than ever. During the event, Datto had five major announcements, including the announcement of Datto DNA, Backupify for Office 365, File Sync & Share through ownCloud, the Datto Linux Agent and an updated Partner Portal. We’re already looking forward to DattoCon16 with our keynote speaker Steve Wozniak.

-In July we held our first Datto Partner Conference in London. This event included a keynote presentation from Austin, a live disaster demo, technical training, a Q&A with Austin and partner awards recognizing Datto’s partners across the region .

-One of Datto’s goals is to continuously improve not only our products but our customer support as well. In August Datto announced 24/7/365 customer support for all users, further improving the quality support to partners.

-Datto expanded into Australia, allowing Datto to partner with MSPs and VARs throughout Australia and New Zealand, helping them to protect their customer’s data.In addition to Datto’s new Sydney office, Datto opened an Australian data center bringing the total number of Datto data centers to five (with a sixth coming in early 2016).

-For the second year in a row, Datto was awarded a 2015 Top Workplace by Hearst Media Services.

-In November, Datto announced a new round of funding with $75 million from Technology Crossover Ventures. This new round will allow Datto to enter more regions faster as well as to increase the value of what Datto is able to deliver to partners.

-Datto welcomed some new board members, which will help Datto as we grow, putting even more smart, strategic people on our board.

-Datto expanded our office space. Datto Boston was moved into a new office located in Downtown Crossing. The new office features some impressive perks such as a hidden whiskey room.

-Datto won more than 60 of awards in 2015 including product awards, best in channel awards, presentation awards at industry events and more!
