Data backup and continuity aren’t foolproof. Even with the most reliable solutions, sometimes backups still fail. That’s why managed service providers (MSPs) should proactively test restore capabilities to ensure they’re prepared for any scenario that comes their way.

The Importance of Testing Your Backup and Continuity Process

Today's business continuity and disaster recovery (BCDR) solutions take image-based server backups (AKA snapshots), which are saved in a format that can be virtualised (i.e. mounted as a virtual machine on a secondary device) for fast recovery of operations. To truly ensure that an image restore will be successful, you cannot simply test file and folder level recovery. Instead, MSPs should invest the time to test a full system restore because you never know what issues you may run into along the way.
