Just like spending the time to create a great email subject line, personalizing your emails can be very effective for driving engagement. In fact, personalized messages improve click-through rates by an average of 14 percent and improve conversions by 10 percent, according to research from the Aberdeen Group. Personalization will help the recipient feel like a valued member in the relationship, rather than just another contact in an email list.
According to Sitima Fowler, CEO of NY-based Capstone IT, it's important to make email as genuine as possible. "We want the email to feel like it's being sent to only them, rather than an entire crowd. When appropriate, we mention specific instances with the client or call out their device to make it more appropriate and tailored to them," she said. Fowler even goes as far as to compose emails manually from client to client for some smaller lists when necessary. Talk about personal!
