DattoCon Recap: Day Three

By Chris Brunau

The final day of DattoCon16 did not disappoint!

The morning kicked off with a brief history of Datto where Austin walked through his humble beginnings of founding Datto in his parents’ basement. Following the history of Datto, the Datto executive team sat down onstage for a panel discussion about their various departments.

Next, Webroot’s keynote session covered a topic we’ve been hearing a lot about - ransomware! They addressed the ways companies can avoid becoming the next victims of ransomware.

Of course, DattoCon would not be complete without the infamous disaster demo led by Vice President of Product Management, Ian McChord. To change things up a bit, we brought out a hydraulic press to crush some devices and really wow the crowd. Thanks to the power of Datto, Ian showed the audience how a business could instantly recover and keep operations running smoothly, despite the crushing damage from the hydraulic press!

After the sales & marketing and technical tracks, we recognized some amazing partners from around the world with the 2016 Golden Datto awards. (More on that tomorrow!)

We also had the pleasure of listening to Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak who took questions from the audience. He discussed artificial intelligence, education and technology, a few stories from Apple’s past and even Dancing with the Stars.

The night ended with a party for Datto’s partner community at the Wildhorse Saloon. An amazing way to end DattoCon16. We’re already looking forward to DattoCon17. See you all in Denver!
