DattoCon Paris: Product Update

By Andrew Burton

DattoCon kicked off today at the Palais des congrès de Paris, with updates across the entire Datto product family. For many, native integration between Datto RMM and Datto Networking was the most exciting news. This update dramatically reduces the need to move between management portals and eliminates the need to manually configure Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP).

“The integration between RMM and Networking is a great step forward for Datto,” said David Thomas of Bluegrass Group, an Exeter, UK based managed service provider (MSP). “Our business is all about maximizing efficiency, and one way we do that is to reduce the number of steps it takes to perform routine tasks. This update will enable us to do just that.”

Let’s take a look at all of today’s product announcements.

Autotask PSA

Configuration Item User Interface improves efficiency when managing configuration items (i.e., RMM managed devices such as BCDR devices, software licenses, network devices, etc).

External Quote Approval provides an easier, electronic way for Partners to deliver, and for their customers to respond to, pricing quotes.

Active Directory (AD) Contact Sync uses AD integration to automate Autotask PSA contact list updates.

Co-Managed User Setup streamlines workflow, coordination, and communication between you and your clients’ internal IT team.

Datto RMM

Securing Datto RMM with Datto SSO provides a single, consistent experience for MSPs to manage user credentials and enforce two-factor authentication options while reducing login prompts.

Native Integration to Datto Networking brings Datto Access Points, Switches, and Managed Power into Datto RMM with a single API key, eliminating the need to manually configure SNMP.

Powerful Scripting Components will be added to the Comstore over the coming months to enable partners to automate additional tasks and ease monitoring of client environments.

SIRIS 4 Business is available now with Intel’s cutting-edge Skylake CPUs for faster performance of complex workloads and error-correcting RAM for improved device and backup reliability.

Recovery Launchpad got self-service networking configuration in this release (including site-to-site VPN via IPSec), so Partners can get customers up and running faster.

SIRIS Agentless backup can now back up any VM on the VMWare hypervisor. This update gives you the capability to protect edge devices that were not easy to protect previously.

Cloud Continuity for PCs is now available in Canada, Europe, and the UK and integration with Datto RMM makes mass deployments easy and efficient.

SaaS Protection

The SaaS Protection Backup Status Page now allows you to quickly determine the health of client backups, view the number of licenses purchased or allocated, and assess profitability.

The Client Onboarding Process will be streamlined this Fall to enable onboarding directly from the Datto Portal.

Microsoft Teams Backup was redesigned so you can find what you’re looking for faster, and we’re expanding Teams backup to include Files, Conversations, and Calendar Meetings in early 2020.

Datto Networking

Native integration with Datto RMM is available now, as noted above.

Network Manager was updated with Recent Events and improved alerts to Datto Network Manager, enabling you to more efficiently manage your clients’ networks.

The Datto Networking mobile app now includes a number of new features designed to ease onsite troubleshooting: Locate Mode, Connected Clients, and Site Survey.

Datto Workplace

Unlimited Storage options are now available. This update simplifies user management and eliminates the need to constantly monitor and assign user quotas.

Cloud Drive (Public Beta) lets you automatically access files on demand, sync for offline use, and generate public sharing links by right-clicking the file.

Connectwise Integration gives you the ability to process billing services directly to Connectwise from Workplace Manager.

This was Datto’s fifth annual European partner conference, and more than 800 MSPs from 26 countries ranging from France to the Faroe Islands were in attendance—more than twice the attendees from last year.

“Increasingly, European MSPs understand they can be the single source of trusted technology expertise to help their SMB clients secure their data against cyberattacks and comply with regulations like GDPR, enabling SMBs to focus on running their businesses,” said Tim Weller, CEO, Datto. “Datto’s passion and purpose is to fuel efficiency and growth of our MSP partners in a truly open environment, so they can deliver the right technology with the simplicity smaller businesses require.”
