DattoCon16: New Products Released During Keynote
DattoCon16 officially kicked off today and Day 1 was all about new products. We’ve got a whole bunch of exciting updates for 2016, designed specifically to help MSPs meet their clients’ needs. There’s a lot to talk about, so let’s jump right in.
First and foremost, we’re proud to announce SIRIS 3. With this release, we’ve brought our SIRIS, SIRIS Virtual, and SIRIS Imaged (formerly GENISIS) products together under the SIRIS umbrella—three different delivery methods for SIRIS 3 functionality. This gives MSPs the flexibility they need to deploy SIRIS in a wide variety of customer environments.
With SIRIS 3, you get the Datto BDR goodness you know and rely on, along with a bunch of neat upgrades. First, we’ve completely upgraded the hardware and added support for 10 Gigabit Ethernet. Also, the operating system has been upgraded to Ubuntu 16.04 Xenial Xerus for better security and compatibility going forward. And, we swapped out VirtualBox for the open source KVM hypervisor to increase performance. We added support for Datto NAS on SIRIS as well, which allows users to create network shares on the device. Finally, we added a Mac agent, iSCSI connectivity, Screenshot Verification for Linux, and agentless backup.
Next up is the SIRIS 3 X1—our first foray into flash storage for BDR. The X1 is a one TB, single license all flash BDR with full SIRIS functionality. It allows MSPs to deliver business continuity with very high performance to customers with single license backup needs. At Datto, we believe that flash storage will have an important place in the data protection space in the future, and X1 represents our first big step in that direction.
Last but certainly not least, Infinite Cloud Retention is a new pricing model for partners’ cloud storage needs. With Infinite Cloud Retention, Datto partners can now store backups in Datto’s cloud forever—with no time restrictions. There are also updates being made to the Datto Device Management Portal including range of new capabilities to help Datto partner more effectively manage large device fleets.
