Co-managed IT for MSPs: Resources and Upcoming Events

By Courtney Heinbach

For managed service providers (MSPs) looking to identify new revenue streams and evolve their service offerings, consider co-managed IT. Co-managed IT is the practice of teaming up with and supporting a business’s internal IT team to achieve its IT goals. In a co-managed IT model, MSPs provide services that fill the gaps of a business’s IT team to provide a holistic approach to IT.

If you’re new to co-managed IT, don’t fret. We’ve partnered with Bob Coppedge, a channel expert specialising in co-managed IT services, author of two educational books on the topic, and CEO of Simplex-IT and CoMITs4MSPs, to provide MSPs with access to the expanded resources they need to offer co-managed IT services to their clients.

Incorporating an entirely new service into your managed services offering is no easy feat, so in partnership with Bob, we’ll be providing educational resources in the coming weeks and months to empower MSPs to take the leap with co-managed IT. MSPs can expect:

  • Live training series: Multi-part workshops that will educate MSPs looking to offer co-managed IT services to help grow their business
  • Webinar series: Webinars on various topics related to co-managed IT. The next webinar in this series is scheduled for April 15th at 2 PM EST. Sign up here!
  • Blog posts and short videos: Coppedge will be contributing his thoughts and insights on the co-managed IT market here on the MSP Beat blog
  • Datto events: Coppedge will speak at select Datto events to discuss and share his experience on co-managed IT topics

“If you're an MSP, co-managed IT can provide an avenue to new business opportunities, and the potential to move upmarket and support larger clients,” said Rob Rae, Senior Vice President of Business Development at Datto. “We’ve seen a 31% increase in co-managed licenses over the past year for our Autotask Professional Services Automation tool, reinforcing the rise in co-managed services and how this partnership will further help MSPs gain the knowledge and insights needed to get started.”

If you’re looking to learn more about co-managed IT, join us on April 15 to learn how you can get started, and stay tuned here on the MSP Beat blog for more resources on offering co-managed IT services.
