Hundreds of thousands of passengers were stranded after a massive IT failure crippled British Airways over the weekend.

According to the airline, a strong power surge collapsed their IT systems, rendering their backups useless. The airline was forced to cancel all flights as a result.

Similar to the healthcare industry, airlines face similar IT risks due to their dated infrastructure.

B.A. is still investigating this issue and says they do not have a complete picture of what happened yet. However, they said there is no evidence of a cyber attack, and no customer data is at risk.

Despite getting flights back to normal, the airline is dealing with major backlash and many customers have not yet retrieved their luggage. British Airways has set up a page featuring the latest information surrounding the IT system failure.
